"THE SAGA" VIDEO ART SHOW
"San Antonio – the Saga” is a captivating video art installation on the magnificent façade of the San Fernando Cathedral, created by the renowned French artist, Xavier de Richemont. The 7,000 sq. ft. projection with custom choreographed music in surround sound narrates the historical discovery, settlement and development of San Antonio. Now the seventh largest city in the nation, San Antonio is a pivotal location in the story and identity of the United States and North America. “San Antonio - The Saga” commands attention and welcomes the world to the San Antonio Main Plaza. The 24-minute journey by Xavier de Richemont is his first outdoor video art installation in the US, following well received public presentation sin France, Germany, Spain, Morocco and Canada.
Originally built between 1738 and 1755, the San Fernando Cathedral is the oldest operating sanctuary in North America. It sits on Main Plaza, the heart of historic San Antonio. The Main Plaza is the ideal location for this story to be told, as it is one of only four colonial plazas left in the US and the only one with a cathedral.
“San Antonio – the Saga” is presented by Main Plaza Conservancy with the generous support of public and private institutions, individuals and the City of San Antonio.
