Pick up your NCBJ credentials at the Grand Ballroom East Registration Desk Grand Ballroom. Connect with colleagues from across the nation and enjoy the views across the bay. It was a huge hit in DC and expanding in San Diego. It’s a no host dinner at a local restaurant with the table coordinated by a judge. Varied cuisines and price points within walking distance of the hotel are planned. Watch for the email announcing that sign up is open, reply, and save your spot. It’s a great way to network, make new friends and have dinner, especially if you are a solo attendee or first time NCBJ’er. Dine Around restaurants are being finalized, but Wednesday and Friday look like the nights.

Hot breakfast is provided on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday mornings. From 7:30-9:00 am Thursday and Friday meet in Pacific Ballroom Salon 21 for a healthy buffet breakfast. Saturday morning is Eggs & Ethics - Breakfast with the judges on the Grand Ballroom Terrace.

Following the Plenary sessions on Thursday and Friday will be a 30-minute break, and a 15-minute break on Saturday. These breaks are the time to meet the speakers from morning sessions, relax with snacks and beverages, visit with the exhibitors and reconnect with colleagues. The breaks are in the exhibits area of the Grand Ballroom Foyer.

Stop by and see what’s up. Planned and pop ups. Changing constantly. You snooze, you lose on free stuff. Hang with friends. Use it as a Meeting Spot in the Grand Ballroom foyer. Need a evening place to play card games, Jingo or Apples to Apples? Come on by in the dark. Need some coffee at 6:30 am ? Come on by before breakfast. Have some fun at the crazy structure in the foyer.

The NCBJ conference has several opportunities for quality time interacting and learning from the judges. Post each Plenary session there will be speaker conversations in the Grand Ballroom foyer. Attend "You Be the Judge" - roundtables hosted by judges on Saturday at 10:30 am. For a whole new take on Ethics credit - come to "Eggs & Ethics - Breakfast on the Terrace" for hosted roundtable discussions on Saturday 7:45am on the Grand Ballroom Terrace.

Lace up your sneakers Friday morning (6:30-8:00 am) for this annual fun run (or walk, as the case might be!), and enjoy the beautiful bay views in the early morning light. Details will be available at the NCBJ East Registration Desk in the Grand Ballroom Foyer.

Sometimes a little peace and quiet is nice. Stop by the Quiet Room and refocus. The Presidio “Quiet” Room is in the hallway by the San Diego Ballroom. Enjoy the beautiful marina view.

Sail the Bay on Saturday 11:30 - 5:30pm in the NCBJ Regatta in San Diego Bay. Twelve boats with six passengers and a USCG Captain will practice sailing basics, then the hit the start buoys for the Regatta. You can book a whole boat or book a solo spot. We expect the boats will sell out quickly, so don’t delay in drafting your crew and reserving your boat. Champagne and Bragging Rights are up for grabs. If you like being on the water, bring your shorts, rubber-soled shoes, sunglasses and join in the fun. Novice to old salts welcome. The regatta is in the Bay and Harbor, and not in the open ocean. Buy a whole boat questions - contact Rebecca Meekma, NCBJ Registration.
